Copper continuous casting and rolling lines are used to produce bright copper rods for wire and cable manufacturing. Materials such as copper cathodes, clean copper scrap, or other suitable copper materials enter the melting system and form molten copper, which is then cast into a copper bar and rolled directly into finished rod. The finished rods are typically Ø8–12 mm and are used as conductor material for low-oxygen copper rod or oxygen-free copper rod production.

Production Process Flow
  • Material Feeding and Melting
Copper cathodes / clean copper scrap → melting furnace → molten copper
  • Holding and Refining
Molten copper → holding furnace → degassing → slag removal → minor composition adjustment → temperature control
  • Launder Transfer and Melt Conditioning
Molten copper → launder system → filtration → impurity removal → stable temperature control
  • Continuous Casting
Molten copper → crystallizer → water-cooled forming → continuous copper cast bar
  • Continuous Rolling
Hot copper cast bar → multi-stand rolling mill → copper rod rolled to the required diameter
  • Cooling and Surface Cleaning
Rolled copper rod → cooling → surface oxide and oil residue removal
  • Inspection and Rod Treatment
Copper rod → diameter checking → surface inspection → straightening → air drying
  • Automatic Coiling
Finished copper rod → automatic coiling into large coils → weighing → packing
  • Finished Rod Storage
Low-oxygen copper rod/oxygen-free copper rod → final inspection → storage
Features
  • Cast bars enter the rolling mill directly without reheating, reducing energy use, saving floor space, and lowering labor intensity.
  • The crystallizing wheel uses four-side cooling with separate inner, outer, and side zones; adjustable water flow and pressure display ensure uniform cooling and fine grain structure.
  • Five-wheel integrated casting machine simplifies installation, alignment, and on-site adjustment.
  • Equipped with an emergency handling system that protects the crystallizing wheel during unexpected shutdowns or power loss.
  • The rolling mill layout is as follows: first four stands are two-roll, followed by eight Y-type three-roll stands for consistent rod forming.
  • The cleaning and reduction unit controls the rod surface brightness and temperature after rolling.
  • Digital control system with DC speed control, PLC programming, measurement, fault display, and HMI monitoring allows real-time tracking and adjustment of production status.
